Fashion Business Owner Musings: Do Your Best to Focus on What Matters

Everything we have to do just to keep our fashion businesses running, let alone thriving, can feel never-ending. It’s OK, since we’re doing this because we love it. But just because we love it, doesn’t mean that it isn’t exhausting sometimes.

I used feel like I’m scrambling to get it all done and would try my hardest to make sure nothing gets forgotten.

But then I realized that the reason I was so exhausted and constantly scrambling was that I didn’t have any real focus.

I was doing work, but not focused work.

And that’s a problem. The key to growing a business is knowing where to focus your time.

Do your best everyday to focus on what matters in your fashion business, based on where you are in the journey, and the rest of the things that crowd your to-do list, need to be let go.

And try not to allow yourself to get swept up in all the little things that blur your focus and hold you back.

I’m not saying this is easy. After all, small businesses are a lot of work, and when there’s no team to get stuff done, what’s the alternative?

I get that. But I’m going to push back here. What kind of mindset work do you need to do to help you improve your focus?

Are you a perfectionist, keeping at things for much longer than you need to?

Are you experiencing FOMO, not wanting to be the only one not using TikTok?

What is keeping you from focusing on the most important things for business growth and releasing the rest?

This is important because once burn-out settles in, your fashion business starts to become a drain on your life; it becomes something you have to do instead of something you love to do.

If this is resonating with you, I talk about the power of focus for growing a business in my free class called How to Make More Online Sales without Relying on Expensive Ads. Definitely rsvp for that if you want to learn how to have more focus in your day-to-day work.

The next time you’re feeling so exhausted that you can’t imagine doing one more thing, take a moment to reflect on the work you’re doing and ask yourself, how can I improve my focus and eliminate the exhausting distractions?

Lots of love and encouragement,
