Hey there designers,
This week’s musing is a little different. Today is my birthday. I’m 36. I have an enormous amount of gratitude for the life I get to lead and I’m feeling the need to talk about that with you.
My entrepreneurial journey has been a somewhat long-ish one. I started trying to make something happen when I was 22. That was 14 years ago. I’ve had a lot of successes and failures in that time. But it hadn’t been until about 2 years ago that I felt like I’d finally found it.
It? I mean that perfect, harmonious, amazing combination of getting do work that you love, having the opportunity to impact others’ lives in a positive way, and actually hitting your financial goals to boot.
I’ve worked really hard over the years to create a life that I want to live. I know that my hard work is one reason why I’m here. But there’s more to it than that.
Another reason is that I’m so incredibly fortune to have been born into a situation where my hard work, perseverance, and grit are enough. Not everyone has the opportunity to even get a chance to try. Not everyone has the life circumstances that allow for the freedom to make a decision on the kind of live they want to live. And I think about that all the time.
You are yet another reason why I get to live this life. You, who read these blog posts we publish, you who follow along with me on social media, you who send me emails every week thanking me for the work I do, you who show your support for our brand by buying the tools we create and becoming members of the Community.
All of these things come together to create a life that I’m very fortune to have. And today, while I enjoy some time relaxing, having a lovely dinner with people I’m close to, and sipping some tasty wine, I’ll continue to think about all I have to be thankful for.
And maybe, hopefully, this will inspire you to do the same. Whether you’ve found your “it” yet, or you’re still working towards it, remember that the mere ability to try is a gift we’re all lucky to have been given.
