Fashion Business Owner Musings: Sometimes We Need a Little Redefining

fashion business

I’ve noticed lately that I’ve started to examine my work and my business a bit more than I have in a while. I’ve just been thinking about my business, how I see it growing and evolving, what I want for it and from it. It has been a nice reminder of the importance of reflection; the importance of taking stock of what I want in life.

When was the last time you stopped and thought about what you really want?

Have you been go, go, going without taking too much time to reflect on your goals?

I know at the start of the year, we all tend to make plans, create goals, and get to work. And that’s great. But often I think that we stop there. We let ourselves get swept up in the work, the day-to-day hustle, and we forget to check in with ourselves.

We forget to make it a habit to look at what we’re working on and whether or not it’s truly serving our goals for our business and for our lives.

What I love about doing this is that sometimes I realize that I’m ready for a little redefining. I’m ready to make adjustments in my work to better serve the life I’m trying to lead.

And by redefining, I mean things like the projects I want to pursue, the events I want to attend, the way I want to market my business, the people I want to surround myself with, the way I run my business, the partnerships I want to create…

Have you redefined these things for yourself lately?

These things all impact who we are as people, our happiness, our livelihood, and the likelihood of reaching our goals and fulfilling our dreams. Yet, once we launch our businesses, we often tend to stay on a track that we defined for ourselves when our businesses were just little hatch-lings on our brains.

I wonder how much of an impact it would have on our businesses if we sat down every 4 or 6 months and really thought about the direction we’re headed in.  I’m not saying that we need to upturn everything all the time. I’m saying that we’re potentially missing an opportunity to carefully construct our businesses and our lives into what and how we really want to exist.

And I’m saying if you haven’t taken any time lately to reflect on what you’ve built, place it into the context in which you want to live, and decide if any changes need to be made, then, please, do it now.

You may be surprised to learn that you’re ready for a little redefining, in the best possible way.

Lots of love and encouragement,
