Do you know what you want with your business? Do you have goals? You’re probably answering yes to these questions. But I wonder if you have precise goals.
Goals help you to visualize what it is that you want and they also help to get you really pumped about getting it. If your goals are unclear or fuzzy, it is really difficult to to see what you’re working towards and even more difficult to stay motivated and excited.
“I want to succeed in business” is a vague goal.
What is success to you?
Do you want to build a thriving e-commerce website as you primary revenue stream, do holiday pops and trunk shows every September through December, and rent a nice studio space outside of your home?
Do you want to move to New York, participate in 2 tradeshows, acquire 10 solid wholesale accounts as your primary revenue stream, land a mention in ELLE magazine, and within 3 years produce a runway show?
How do you want to succeed?
Once you know what your goals really are, you can start to plan how you’ll make them happen; raise money, build a website, hire SEO help, find an department in Brooklyn, research an assistant editor at ELLE…you get the idea.
If you really want to make them happen, your goals need to be clear and focused; get rid of the fuzzy goals.
